St. Catherine Hospital is among a few European institutions that started with applications of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) in clinical practice (Lipogems). St. Catherine’s orthopedic team for the first time in the region made a new medical alternative: the meniscal transplant, an hour-long, outpatient, arthroscopic procedure that uses donor tissue to replace damaged meniscus, which can dramatically slow the onset of arthritis. In addition to meniscal transplant since recently we are also successfully applying a new biological treatment : meniscus replacement with the synthetic implant.  The hospital encompasses: surgery unit comprising of 5 operating rooms with separate sterilization unit and recovery room with 4 beds; radiology diagnostics (Philips EPIQ 7 ultrasound system, MAGNETOM Avanto 1.5 T with Tim+Dot i), in-patient department with 14 beds; day hospital with 5 beds; a polyclinic with 6 medical specialist clinics: Orthopedics Clinic, Surgery Clinic, Anesthesiology Clinic with pain management division, Internal Medicine Clinic, Clinic for Back Pain, Neurology Clinic, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic. The staff of 50 includes 15 doctors (4 professors, 5 associate professor, etc), 3 radiology engineers, 6 physiotherapist, 18 nurses, etc. All our staff is fluent in English.

Annually, we see more than 22 000 patients We were particularly proud to report the lowest percentage of hospital infections in comparison with any other hospital in South Eastern Europe (0.566%). Superbrands organization based in the Great Britain since 1995 published annually the strongest brands and in July of 2016. announced that St. Catherine won “Croatia Superbrands 2016/2017 Award” for its quality, reliability and distinction.

In February of 2016., International Certification Association (ICERTIAS) announced that the St. Catherine Hospital won the ICERTIAS Customers’ Friends Award. During the study, ICERTIAS was analyzing the quality of communication with the patients, the quality of digital presence in social network, the quality of hospital web page, the image of the hospital in society, the image of hospital owner in society, etc.. St. Catherine Hospital is a teaching hospital of the Medical Faculty of the Universities of Split, Rijeka and Osijek as well as of the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb.  St. Catherine Specialty Hospital collaborates with leading European and U.S. clinics like Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (Germany), Regiomed-Kliniken (Germany), Diagnostikum Graz (Austria), Carolina’s Pain Institute (USA), etc. During the last five years our hospital and Mayo Clinic are jointly organizing the most prestigious scientific event in the Europe in the field of personalized medicine.
